Week 2: Head Blockout – Primary Forms

  • Head Theory, Muscle and Facial Fat.

  • 15-Min Feedback Session: Sculpt-over & Draw-over Critiques per Student

 

Week 3: Sculpting Secondary Forms

  • Refining facial structure: eyes, nose, mouth, ears
  • Adjusting volume and balance

Week 4: Details & Texture Pass

  • High-frequency detail sculpting (wrinkles, pores, etc.)
  • Skin Theory
  • Texturing: Colour zones, maps, and skin realism

Week 5: Grooming & UE5 Integration

  • XGen Grooming
  • Setting Up Groom in Unreal Engine 5

Week 6: Materials, Lighting & Final Renders

  • By the end of this 6-week course, students will:

    • Have a strong understanding of head anatomy, both structurally and artistically.
    • Be able to sculpt realistic human heads using industry-standard workflows.
    • Understand how to texture, groom, and render 3D heads suitable for real-time applications.
    • Be capable of preparing and integrating heads into a game engine pipeline such as Unreal Engine 5.
    • Leave with a fully realized 3D character head project for portfolio or production use.
